Lubbuck Lights

[Trick of the light?]
  • Summer 1951 in Lubbuck, Texas
  • hundreds of people report strange lights in the night sky
  • lights often appeared in a formation; bluish
  • a local Air Defense Command radar reported an unknown target traveling at 900 mph at 13,000 feet
  • Harvard professor Donald Menzel called these UFOs "temperature inversions"; Menzel became an outspoken critic of the "UFOnaut" hypothesis
